Glasgow Coma Score (GCS)

GCS includes Eyes, Vocal  and Motor.

From top to bottom, think of the eyes , mouth , and arm muscles.

From top to bottom , the scores are then:

Eyes     =    4

Vocal    =    5

Motor   =    6

If you are familiar with the AVPU score for conscious level, you can use it to help remember the eye score (or vice versa):

4    Eyes open spontaneously.                 Alert
3    Eyes open to voice.                          Voice (responds to voice)
2    Eyes open to pain.                            Pain (responds to pain)
1    No eye opening.                               Unresponsive
